Default Exhaust, Tune up questions

Well long story short I bought a 95 z28. it has a full Borla exhaust and BBK Shorties on it, Im going to be pulling it all off and putting it onto my T/A. I know LT's are better but the shorties are basically free and in good condition. My question is will the exhaust sound better with the cat or w/o the cat? I would like the car to be on the louder side but I dont want it to sound like a wet fart.

Also since im going to be changing out the manifolds im going to do a tune up, What plugs do you guys recommend using? and what do I Gap them to? I also remember reading a while back that people use truck filters on the lt1, to hold more oil? if thats true what part # is it?

There is also a mallory hyfire ignition on the Z28 can anyone point me in the right direction with installing these? Thanks!!!

-LT's > shorties like you said.
-You will have less rasp with catalytic converters in place.
-Get a set of MSD 8.5 wires and NGK TR55 plugs.
-The K&N oil filter is larger than stock size.
-Since you are doing the exhaust, I would install new AC Delco o2 sensors.
-Ditch the Mallory ignition box.

I was personally thinking about a Jacobs system but I would like to hear more on SRJ's thoughts.

I personally think that after market ignition boxes are unnecessary if you aren't running nitrous. You won't notice any gains and it will just be one more component to troubleshoot in the future.

Where do you recommend getting the 02s?

I'd probably see if GMpartsdirect has them.

Maybe try "thepartsladi" on ebay.

to answer your question it will sound better with the cat. the shorties will deepen the exhaust note a lot. i love my shorties/LM1 setup
