I'm not a huge fan of the xfi lobes, I've seen a few eat good valve springs b/c the lobes are so aggressive. Its comparable to the hotcam, only a little less duration, more lift, and on a 113 compared to a 112. So for the lope, it will some, but not a lot. Should make a little more power than the hotcam though.

You've got all the supporting mods I'd go a hair bigger.

not a big fan of XFI stuff

I like the XE series more myself

look into a custom grind IMO from LE or AI, an LE custom cam is barely more than an off-the-shelf comp

I don't believe it going to "lope real good", but I believe it's an excellent choice for a 350 size engine.

Now if you're MORE interested in "lope" than in over-all best performance, going up to a 224/230 @ .050 would "lope" better. If you want a REAL RAUNCHY lope, go with 230/236 @ .050, but you'd kill bottom end torque, would need a 3000 stall converter, rear end gears, etc.

One other option is CompCams' new Thumpr series which are specifically designed to give buyers the "lope" they want. Their ads claim torque isn't compromised either. Since so many guys are now jumping on the "lope" bandwagon, CompCams designed a cam series to meet the demand. Give 'em a call and see what's what.

For me, I'm on the opposite end of this issue. I want smooth to barely noticable.

Hope this helps.

Jake

I'm happy with my GM846. I lost a lil torque down low but the mid to high rpm pull is awesome. I know it's old technology but it's easy on springs and sounds good to boot. Granted I only went with cam cause it came with motor other wise I'd be running the 503 from the research I've done. I know I posted a sound clip last week and I've been showing it off every where but I'm happy with it. Here it is again, so shoot me, lol.

That cam is kinda big on the lift side, i hope your doing some head work when you plan on doing the cam swap.. Just my opinion but i think it's a waist of time to do a cam with out doing some P&P work on the heads.

For off the shelf cams the cc503 is hard to beat great midrange with a good topend and a killer idle. The xfi stuff is GAR BAGE imho havent been impressed with it

the XFI's have very agressive ramp rates, huge lift (for the average LT1), and ground on a 113LSA.

the XE series of Comp Cams seems to be a nice middle ground between the "lazy" magnum lobes and "aggressive" XFI lobes
