Default Spark Plug gapping specs??

Im removing and replacing my plugs and wires tomorrow. For me 94, z28, auto. Im using AcDelco plugs...I hear people say gap them to .035 but I think in my Camaro manual it says .050....not sure which to use.

I gapped mine at .050. I may be wrong but I believe its usually nitrous applications where they're gapped to .035.

I gapped mine at .040 . A smaller gap is a little easier on the rest of the ignition system.

okay thanks guys...the Haynes Repair Manual says "1997 and earlier 5.7L" plugs should be gaped at 0.050, so I'll go with that.

Depends on how modified the car is.
If it is stock and you are putting double platinum plugws in I would go ahead with .050. Once modified though you can consider going tighter, or if going with plain plugs as they will wear and if you gap them a little tight to start they will last longer.

A lot of heads/cam setups will probably be OK with .040-.045, get into a nasty NA setup or mild with nitrous maybe .035-.040, more radical and then you get to needing .035.

The manual is for STOCK cars and as you modify those specs might not be quite right anymore.
