Default Crap my LT1 overheated!

Well for a while my temp gauge was reading about 210 which was a little bit over the 180 thermostat.. then today it went to the deadly redline temperature and yup...water shooting all over the place. The thing is though my service engine light was blinking(therefore misfiring) so I'm assuming that it has to be the water pump.. is there a way to tell if its the water pump thats causing the problem?? I'm pretty sure it is because it was leaking throughout the pump

man i hope the splines on the water pump are ok. i had a problem like that and found that the splines on the shaft of the pump and the splines coming out the timing cover were worn out. i didnt have time to take everything apart so i installed an electric water pump instead. have you checked you basics like the fans and thermostat? it sure sound like the problem i had.

Sounds like your water pump was peeing all over the Opti. Did you look at the weep hole to check?

It is located behind the water pump in the center. It's a small hole directly above your optispark.

Hope it didnt get hot enough to warp the heads, if it did you will have to take them off and have them milled
