So when i step on it i get the loud THUMP coming from under the car. I know its not from the engine so..

It feels like something is broken and its being throw back and making a very loud and strange sound that you can feel through the car.

Ohh and what is the purpose of this?


Its bolts under the body and the exhaust is above it but doesnt support it

The thump your hearing is most likely a busted trans mount. its a easy fix any local parts store should carry a urathane replacement.

That panel is a floor reinforcement, but don't ask me how it can do much. There's not much to it.

x2 on the broken trans mount. Been there done that got the you know what.

okay thats what i was assuming, thanks alot

also look at your torque arm mount at the trans...i reciently stripped out the one bolt and when it came loose it would thump the floorboard pretty hard.

What kind of exhaust is on your car? You could have a y-pipe banging against the floorboard. Or, like what's been said, a trans mount.
