Default Lid question

Is the base for the V6 cars the same as the ls1 cars ? i picked up a full set up from a v6 for free and was wondering if the base is the same or not. also is it really worth doing this mod from a k&n CAI ? if i remember correctly merv said that he picked up .2 of a second. anyone else with such luck with this swap ? thanks

Not sure on whether the v6 and LS1 setup is all the same. But, I did notice a little bit going from my Moroso cai to the lid. Don't really have any track proof though. Conditions were too far off, and driving ability was greatly improved between the trips with each. lol

yes, i also picked up 1.8mph and 2 tenths done at the track same day within minutes of swap. you will have a few people that will talk crap about the lid vs. the cai but they never did the swap! those that have done it know it works....sorry i am not the kind of guy that tries to test every little mod however i have a 6 yr relationship with my car and she is very consistant.

Can you post a pic..for some reason I think it's smaller. Besides that fact I don't think you can get it under the stock hood of a Camaro.

The shoud is the same but the lid itself is different and off center.

look at this lid for v6 it is off center to the drivers side, base is the same though.

I like my lid conversion, though I have a ram air hood so it was a pretty direct swap

Hey:

What are you doing for the oval throttle body, to round maf/slp lid connector hose?

You just get a 3.5" silicone coupler from eBay. Or, I got a 4" to 3.5" reducer coupler, so it wouldn't be so difficult going from the oval tb to the round MAF. Worked great for me.

I thought you could also use a 3x3 Fernco from home depot?

How big does it need to be to stretch around the oval part?
