Thumbs down Gauge lights died...wtf?

I was driving back home on the high way lastnight, and then out of nowhere....the gauge lights just died? The warning lights are still working however, my ABS light is on (got a problem with my sensor) and my SES light is also on (always has been since the emissions have been disconnected)

The light was pretty dim, as in dying. Could it have died? And if so, how hard is it to change it?

While not an LT1, I had this issue in an '02 S-10 and it was a loose fuse in my fuse panel. Good luck!

I know the Wire that controls it if you need to hard wire it.

The light was already quite weak when I got the car, it might just have gone out (worst case scenario).

I will check the fuses and see if any have popped, because a loose fuse will not give a dim light.

well it's got like 8 "194" light bulbs that light up the cluster, so the chances of them all going out or "dying" is very rare, I'd say a fuse or some kind of other electrical problem like a bad short in the circuit could be a very real possibility. Have you done any kind of work that involved moving, cutting, or even messing with any kinds of wires in the car? you could have possibly messed something up.

When mine went out it was a fuse. Check your fuses, if none are blown, pull the cluster out and replace the bulbs.

I have had my brake lights go out, as in, they won't come on with head lights on, only the center light. But with the headlights off, they do come on.

My front right head light has been giving me some trouble, won't work without a tap or bang on the headlight, and now won't work at all. Then the dash lights went dead (same night the headlight gave up working). I checked the bulb, the filament is still intact.

I have not touched any electrics on the car, so this is my car just being an LT1 I guess lol

I just discovered my tail lights don't work either, but the brake lights do.

This is getting rather interesting. I will have a go at it tomorrow night.

Which tail lights.. the marker lights?

Do the front amber and the back red ones come on with the switch?

Check fuses and headlight switch. I've also seen alternators give very similar problems.

I just checked all the fuses, and the tail lamp fuse was the one burned. It works now, but my right outboard headlight still won't work.

I will have to work on that as well. I don't mind a headlight not working, its getting in trouble with the police that I want to avoid.

I checked it a few days ago, the filament is not damaged, but it could be broken enough not to be seen. I will swap the lights and see what happens.

Many makes and models have been like this for years. Always check your brake lights if the dash lights go out.
