thats the one im putting in mine, theres are alot of mixed reviews about it, but i like it personally, its a high rpm cam, with great mid range and is also good for blowers or nitrous!

I like the XFI lobe profile a lot. Just use good quality valvetrain parts and you'll be fine. The ones who bad mouth the aggressive lobes try to use junk in the valvetrain

Cant say of that cam will work good for you or not without knowing what heads youre going to run, the rest of your setup, etc.

Sounds like a nice choice for a 383. As stated, use quality valve train parts.
What ratio rocker arms are you going to use? If 1.6, make sure you get springs that can reliably handle up to .650 lift paired with those aggressive xfi lobes.

street or competition ported?

Those heads keep right on flowing past .600 lift. I'd get a little more lift out of the cam to take advantage of that flow.

GM High Tech Performance magazine just ran a series of dyno tests using the 467 XFI (Which is one step down from the one you're considering. It's 230/236@.050) comparing various LT1 heads. Engine was a 383.

The AFR 195 Eliminators- out of the box, not the Competition version - made about 516 HP (from memory) and beat out the other heads being tested. The entire test is on GMHTP'S website.

According to CompCams Tech engineer, Godbold, the XFI series of lobes are the best lobes CompCams has done to date.

Test was invalid, they tuned with one head, probably the AFR and then left the timing untouched with every subsequent head tested. Used a LOT of timing at that and when we discussed it one member even pointed out that his car loses 20hp with just 2 degrees too much timing. So it was no small flaw to the test.

Not saying anything good or bad about any of the products, just saying the test was meaningless.
