I read something on here like this couple weeks ago. I think that sounds about right though dont you think cause if you bring your car to get tuned and the tuner needs to pull out the the right amount of degree's to retard it right to the fuel cause every degree counts. Dont you think?
It sounds like it would make sense unless you have your own controller then you can retard the timing yourself. At that compression 12.8-1 thats pretty high , wont 93 make less power on motor if the car is tuned at 108----RamAir95TA-------

the car is being tuned for a 200 shot of nitrous. i was thinking of getting a nos controller and having the car tuned for motor then when i want to use the juice i can have a switch to activate the nos and the controller at the sametime thatll retard the timing. but i dont have any money to spear right now

With a spot on tune you can run 93 on 12.8CR depending on the dynamic CR. The static number doesnt have much to do with it.
If its a big lazy cam with a lot of overlap that lowers the dynamic CR you can run 12.8CR on 93 easily. My build will be 12.5:1 and will be tuned for and only ever see 93.
Its def a lot of compression, but I don't see why you need 108octane. IMO you can either just get it tuned for 93 and pull the proper amount of timing for the nitrous or run two seperate timing maps using an ignition box - one setting for NA 93oct and one for spraying with the 108oct.
The best advice so far was when Tbird said talk to your tuner. Assuming he knows his way around an LTX he will give you the right information. If he is stuck in the standard SBC train of thought then he will be adamant that you need to run race gas.

I'd run the race fuel definitely..... unless you are in a class that REQUIRES you to run the 93 octane pump gas DON'T do it... the higher octane will be much more resistant to detonation....
i generally recommend anything over a 150 shot should use a dedicated race fuel.... 10 gallons of race gas is like what 150 bucks???
How much is a new motor???? decision should be easy....

Maybe what you should do "jan231986" is get the car tuned for 108 see what numbers you make. Then suck out the rest of the gas and put in 93 and see what kind of numbers you make there. If this can work "im not a tuner or mech."
