Default Cold air intake changed, now I have a few problems

Hey guys I just took my Moroso intake off and put on my Suncoast creations ram air box. The ram air box is modified(new aluminum lid instead of plastic, I'll post pics soon). When I started it up, the idle was searching in park and really searched in drive almost dying when I gave it a little gas in the parking lot. So it seems like it is idling too low. Do you guys think I should unplug the battery and let it sit for a while so it can relearn the new intake? Thanks

There should be no "relearning" necessary. It's possible un-metered air is getting through passed the MAF creating your conditions. Not sure of the configuration, but I'd check everything between the throttle body and MAF.

yeah i'll agree. sounds like some air got in there that shouldn't have. i failed emissions a few years ago for what ended up being a tear in my intake elbow which cost me $200 to fix ($100 diagnostics and $90 for a new alum elbow) if i had known i was going to go ram air a few months later i would have just left it duct taped like how the shop had fixed it when i told them i'd order one from summit instead of paying $100 for a stocker piece.

It's the suncoast SS hood with the Trickflow aluminum elbow and polished/ported MAF. I believe everything is sealed, but I'll double check tonight. I don't have the emissions tube hooked up anymore, but I did not have it on the Moroso either. So I don't think it could be that. I'll recheck and get back on here hopefully with some pics of the new box modifications. Thanks for the help guys.

Ditch the ported/polished MAF...

well i just started it up last night and let it run until it got warm enough for the fans to come on and it seemed to "fix itself". No issues last night or this morning starting it or driving it even while it was still warming up. Why should I ditch the polished MAF? Do you think it will run better with a stock screened one?

Cause there is absolutely no benefit to using a ported/polished MAF...
Your PCM is calibrated to the stock diameter of the MAF, once you port the MAF, that calibration is off.

I had a similar issue on my Camaro, the boot from the elbow to the t.b. got bent in on the bottom and wasn't seated all the way. You couldn't see it so it took a while to figure it out but was an easy fix.

Actually I really only polished the inside and removed the "divider" in the center of the MAF. I did not open up the inside diameter of the MAF other than that. Do you still think that might effect how it runs? Since last night the idle is back to normal just like when the Moroso was on it.

Why don't they just make a curly Q for an intake? Seriously I think the engineers of that Ram Air setup wanted to make the most roundabout way of getting air to an engine.
