Default Mine's down as well..time for a refresher

I saw the other thread by Bad TX so I figured I wouldn't jack his with my convo..

I tore mine down investigating an Oil burning problem and found the Rings in my Engine to be bad. At the moment it's completely apart, I'm fixing the little things that I have to tweak..basically all the little things that I have to adjust after running the new setup for a while. I've got things rubbing that need to be ground off and BFH'd..things that need to be moved, **** like that.

I'm getting all new Seals for everything in the Engine..Mains, Valve Seals..etc..and having the Machine Shop assemble the bottom end to my 408 this time so it is done pretty much exact to spec and nothing is out of whack. Then I'm going to put it back together the rest of the way.

This weekend I'm putting my T56 back together..I tore it up a little bit and had to fix that. I bought the Tick Performance Stage II Kit and I'm assembling it with that. The Clutch is still very good so I'm stickin that back in.

I don't plan on having it back on the road till about October..mainly cause the Machine Shop is backed up with everything else going on, so I'm just taking my time doing all the little things.

Glad to hear you are getting things done right.
Now just you wait, everything and everything is going to want to race you now that you are in a beater for the mean time.

I don't have a Beater..I'm driving my DD..the Camaro is the toy.

I got my Truck a while ago..mainly to haul parts for the Camaro around. Trust me with as much modding as I do to that car I couldn't not have a second vehicle.

1999 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3l, full Tow Package. It holds it's own..

But yea since I took the car down everyone is talking ****..

Na..that little 5.3 in that thing is all it needs to get around..that and I'm enjoying the 19mpg for what it is. The only things I did to that are the Denali Wheels, TB Bypass, and Intake Silencer Delete.

It's better me tearing it down than it deciding to self-destruct and sending the Rods on their journey through the side of the Block.

Glad to Know I'm not the only one doing some refreshing on the ole camaro.
Believe it or not you inspired me to build a 402 stroker, so that's what I'm in the process of saving for. I'm going to take my time and do it right.

It's not hard to do man.. I had a Hotcam 350 LT1 that would walk a LS1 all day long.

I just decided to go with a setup that would spank 90% of what's out there..that was my majic number in my mind.

hey merv, any reason you ditched the 402 for a 408? I want to build a 402, but nothing too crazy.

I had to bore my block..#4 Top Ring dug into the top of the Cylinder wall so I decided to go with a fresh Bore which would be .030 over and build it into a 408.
