Default head gaskets

This feels like a stupid question but shouldnt there be big holes in the gaskets on the top side in between the cylinders for the coolant holes?
Can you guys tell which side of the gasket should face up? I'm thinking the side with the part number should face up (middle picture).

What gaskets are those? Why are they not completly flat? They look wavy in the picture. Some gaskets, like Felpro's, have wording on it that says "This side up".

Really does not matter.. The way he has them pictures though (rough side) is the side I usually leave up, no reason - just coincidence i guess

They are gm impala gaskets, and yes they are a bit wavy. The only writing on them is the part numbers.

Those are the same exact gaskets I got from GMpartsdirect.. Even if they're a bit wavy, that won't really matter once you press the head on them and it flattens them out evenly.

Yes, the gaskets look normal as far as the collant holes go.
