Default A little help?

I am doing a header install and my dumb newb a$$ screwed up. i was trying to put the driver's side header on when this silver wrapped cylinder shaped tube that was sticking out from the block broke off and started dangling from its wire. it sits in front of the tranny and beneath the head and spark plugs towards the firewall. i have no idea what this thing is or how serious of a hole i have dug for myself. thanks a lot for the help

Do you have a 93 year motor? If so, sounds like the oil pressure sending unit. Is it just above the oil filter?

Yup, its the oil pressue sending unit. '93 and early '94 cars had it there. You'll have to get a new one. Not a big deal.

Looks like this right (with a rubber boot wrapped in silver heat shielding material over it)?

Yes that is the oil sending unit, The dumb *** shop that put mine in broke mine as well. When you go to the auto parts to get one make sure they give you the right one. I have a 94 and they sent me the wrong one. Well gmpartsdirect sent me the wrong one, and then rhe auto parts tried to sell me the same one. they had to order the right one
