We rebuilt the engine approx five years ago and installed the ProCharger. This is a unique Corvette, check out the above link. Bob

well, since the lt5 stock for stock was better than the lt1. that and the unique lotus inspired dohc and all those extra valves. dunno what the lettering says on the back bumper but it would say zr1 also..
from the wiki for anyone that doesn't know about this engine
LT5
For model year 1990, Chevrolet released the Corvette ZR1 with the radical (for GM) LT5 engine, which shared only the 4.4 inch bore spacing with any previous LT engine. The LT5 was engineered by a team headed by Terry D. Stinson. It was an all-aluminum 5.7 L (349 cu in) small-block V8, but was entirely different from any of the other Chevrolet 350 engines. The bore and stroke were both different at 3.9 by 3.66 in (99 by 93 mm) instead of the usual 4 by 3.48 in (102 by 88 mm) and it featured Lotus-designed 32-valve DOHC heads. It was hand built by specialty engine builder, Mercury Marine in Stillwater, OK. This engine produced 375 horsepower (280 kW) and 370 lb·ft (502 N·m) for the 1990-1992 Corvette ZR-1 and jumped to 405 horsepower (302 kW) and 385 lb·ft (522 N·m) for 1993 to its final year in 1995, thanks to cam timing changes and improvements to the engine porting. 1993 also added 4-bolt main bearing caps and an exhaust gas recirculation system. The engine was used only in Corvettes.
so basically, you're saying its a zr1 car without the zr1 engine?
not hating, just trying to clue people in that don't know about the lt5 and what it was all about
after doin some more reading, it seems that they changed the rear fascia to look like the zr1 rear fascia on all cars. so the square shaped tail lights were on all cars after 1991.

What I am trying to say is that the C4 ZR1 used the square shaped tail lights along with the badging as a way to identify itself. In 1991 they changed all Corvettes to use this rear fascia. That car being a 1994, has square shaped tail lights instead of round. Because they changed it in 1991 from the circle tail lights.
What I am trying to say is that it was possible in 1994 to get FX3 with an LT1 and it has the square shaped tail lights. So it isn't an LT5 chassis. It's a Corvette chassis. It has upgraded suspension that has controls to alter it from inside the cabin. It could be ordered with an LT1 or an LT5 depending on what you wanted.
I am just trying to find out if it was originally a ZR1 or if it was just a normal C4 with the FX3.
The quote that was originally quoted doesn't make sense because the ZR1 sold in 1994 had the LT5 with the active suspension. If it isn't a ZR1, then it's a regular old Vette with FX3.

there isnt a "ZR1" chassis, both the regular corvette and the Z used the same one. the only difference between the two C4s was the Z had slightly wider body panels from the doors rearward in order fit the larger rear wheels, and the LT5 engine

Thanks, this car has been is every state but Alaska and Hawaii! This car does get it's wheels driven off of it. The engine wiring harness has deteriorated from all the miles that I can foresee one of these days it's going to need replaced. We just replaced the wiring going to the 02 sensors, which was giving us a lot of problems. Bob

yeah i wasn't trying to hate but i was just trying to help clear up what exactly it was. its a beautiful vette and i'm jealous that i don't have one just like it
ever better that the owner drove the hell out of it every day and still drives it with that many miles
and yeah i just noticed that too the CHMSL is in the rear fascia and not mounted higher in the glass, so its not a ZR1.
