Default T-56 parts ordered

Got the stuff to put my trans back together. Used thegearbox.org and D&D.

Ordered
*Bronze shifter bushing
*Steel (Viper/Vette) 3-4 shift fork
*Bronze fork pads for 1-2 and 3-4
*Billet slider keys for 1-2 and 3-4
*Carbon fiber blocker rings for 1-2 and 3-4 synchros

I'll be pulling it soon and putting it together as sson as the parts get here. Will be cool to get it back on the road and actually be able to use 3rd and 4th.

gearbox is great to deal with. thats where i bought my rebuilt kit. go slow and make sure you double check everything as its going together. the slider keys are a PITA to let you know. also make sure you get your bearings shimmed properly. also if you dont have access to a press you can use heat and a freezer to put some of the new bearings on.

Im basically just replacing the fork and adding a few upgrades. Not really doing a full rebuild so all the same bearings etc are staying in.

Trans has less than 80k, just shifting hard and missed a shift bent or broke the 3-4 fork.

Bearings usually hold out pretty good. I'm in the process of putting mine back together with the Tick Stage II Kit. I stripped 2nd, fkd up Reverse, couple of other things..

I need to put a new 2nd gear in mine. I'd like to do a full rebuild, but I don't think it really needs it. It shifts perfectly, and is fine, except for 2nd gear being gone. I think I probably just stripped the teeth off of it. If I don't get any interest in someone buying it with 2nd gear out, I may just end up fixing it myself.

Just do it! Parts are fairly cheap and documentation on rebuilding them is readily available.

I'm lucky to have a guy helping me who has done it before, but I would tear into it myself if he wasn't going to.

That's what I need to find. I have pretty much done everything, rebuilding a trans and doing a gear swap is still on my to learn list. Along with welding...

My T56 just hit 170k miles and it hasn't missed a beat yet.

I rebuilt my first T56 last week. It wasn't bad at all. Looking forward to my next one actually
