Default First time going to the track.

Okay well i'm not positive if this is the right section, but i decided its time to go to the local track. Ill be going to KCIR this Wednesday and i have no idea what to expect lol. Any tips/pointers would be helpful! Also i was curious about what i should be running? I have a 94 M6 Camaro with exhaust and CAI.

I don't have very good drag radials on the back so im not sure how i should launch it, should i take it easy out of the gate then go? Im worried if i don't do that i will just spin my *** off and my 60 will be terrible.

What tires do you have? I went 13.32@103.5 old worn Nittos and a catback,so LT1s can run. Hot burn out 18psi and dumping the clutch at 4000. Dead hooked. Anything less than 4k dumping the clutch it would bog
Reg street tires would leave around 3500 slipping the clutch.

when you say exhaust it it LTs and everything or just a catback? i dont see why you couldn't hit 13.5s at 102-105 depending on conditions on wednesday night. I ran my best there and have a few friends that frequent that track alot and say usually its a pretty good track as far as DA and weather conditions go(although it sucked at the shootout).

The problem with this thread is lack of info on the mods done description is vague and knowing your tracks altitude helps a bunch.
The average Lt1 w/typical bolt ons,DRs with good altitude such as HRP,ATCO etc. you should have NO problems running 12.7-12.9
move up to 2600' alt. you can expect mid 13s
good luck at your track 6 speed cars can be much more difficult to 60' depending on conditions.

he did say what track he was going to... which would also tell you the DA and he also told you what all he had done to the car... with the exception of his definition of exhaust. so there is kinda no real problem with this or his thread... give the guy a break. he just asked for help!

one of the best tips ive ever been told is dont be the ******* who drives through the water with your street tires. being a 6 speed you really just need to line up and go. if kcir is anything like atlanta dragway they do very little prep on street nights. i blow the tires off with a 3k launch.

I've heard ATL dragway sucks. A buddy of mine just took his CRX out there and ran a 14.2 in a low 13 second car because he couldn't hook up... If you're in Georgia, you might as well drive out to Silver Dollar or Twiggs.

I only have catback no headers yet. Im not positive on the tire size but i believe they are 17x8.5-9 im not positive my car came with them on. They said Federal super steel? im not sure if they are drag radials or not. Thats just what i have been told.

If you ever go to a year one fast friday let me know, Ive never seen a fast LTX car there.

And to the OP, you will probably do like me and blow the tires off your first run and run a 15-16 second quarter. lol.
When you get a hang of it I say low 14s.

low 14's. track prep on street nights does suck. cannot blame the track though - why lay down $500 in VHT if the street tire guys are just going to screw it all up?
