94 has hardened pushrods?
Alright help me out here guys.
Did I read somewhere that 94's have hardened pushrods? I could swear I did but can't find it.
I'm thinking stock length 7.200 is probably what I'll end up with since I'm cam only, heads have never been milled or even off the car, etc.
If my stock ones are hardened can I just use them?
Thanks

I've heard that from 93-95 they are hardened. But you only NEED hardened ones if you have Non-Self Aligning Rockers, but if they are in good shape and the right size, you should be able to use them.

If I were you, I'd just get new hardened pushrods. I know we've all heard that 93-95 came with hardened rods, but has it actually ever been confirmed? I wouldn't want to have to tear down an engine again to replace pushrods. Pushrods can be had fairly cheap too.
With my SA rockers I'll be using the stock rods, but with SA rockers, I'll be fine if they aren't hardened.

To the best of my knowledge, 94's & 95's have hardened pushrods. To verify you do not have an anomaly, run a file across the side of one. If it slides off & barely shines the surface, it is a hardened pushrod. If it removes metal & digs in, they are not hardened.

Just reporting back since I started my cam swap and I had a chance to file-test my pushrods.
I used the edge/corner of the file to give it more of a chance to dig in.
Bear in mind I didnt care if I damaged the pushrod or not because if they were not hardened, I was buying new ones anyway.
First time I made a couple passes back and forth with the file, then wiped off the pr to check. Nothing, not a scratch, a shaving nothing. You could also tell by the sound of the file it wasnt digging in AT ALL.
Next time I got a little more aggressive and used quite a bit of pressure. Same result, tone of the file changed a little bit didnt make so much as one shaving and you could not tell that it damaged the surface in the least.
So in my un-professional opinion my 94 pushrods are very much hardened material.
I plan on using them as long as the wipe pattern on the top of the valve is good. I'll report back after a few hundred miles and I pull the VC's to inspect.

Upgrade IMO ... The stock springs aren't **** for pressure ... Aftermarket springs needed for a cam swap are much more robust .. Yours like mine are hardened but I won't chance it as they are designed for weaker springs..

Call me an idiot, I used my hardened PRs on my green car (sig) for about 800 miles before replacing them with 7.15" Comp Magnums. They just looked a tiny bit cleaner where they went by the guideplates. I just felt better going with a new set that were a slightly better match on length.
