are headers worth the money?
so the other day i went to summit racing and i was looking at buying some coated longtubes for my 94 z28. the guy at sumit told me that the headers would only give me around 8-9 hp because the stock manifolds on the z28 arnt that bad of manifolds. so it not worth spending $500. does anyone know how accurate this is ? and how much headers will actually give me ?

That guy is low rent..
My headers and ory netted me 22 rwhp over manifolds. Its the best bolt on out there bsides n2o.
Def invest in them if you ever plan on doin a cam swap or head work longtubes are a must!!

I gained 30 rwhp from my long tubes. That guy is crazy for telling you not to buy them...isn't he a salesman!? Anyway, the stock manifolds are terrible. You will need to do other things with the intake and heads/cam eventually, but like I said, it gave me 30 at the wheels with nothing but a K&N filter. Not even CAI yet.

Long Tubes are one of essentials that all stock LT1 guys should immediately consider. I've put them on both of my LT1's and they really wake the cars up. I would expect a solid 20+rwhp over stock manifolds and y-pipe. I cut about 6-7 tenths off my stock time 1/4 times with only mods being LT's, ORY, Catback and CAI. I would attribute the majority of that gain to the LT's.
Another plus is the weight you shave by going from heavy stock manifolds and catted y-pipe to LT's and ORY.

Headers should be the first mod done to any engine, any car. The reason is they can only enhance every other mod you make, and are the cheapest hp/dollar there is not counting juice.

Instead of listening to a catalog sales person the first thing to do is check out what the majority is using.Ls1 cars have nice flowing manifolds for stock but even they greatly improve from the CORRECT header some manufactuers build to compete with others for sales and others compete for overall power so at that time is when you purchase the header that fits closest to your needs. i aswell as a bunch run the PACESETTER longtubes the price, the fit,the performance were all on my side.
