Default Spun bearing

Couple of questions about a spun bearing:

1. Can you still drive the car (no hard) without causing more damage?
2. Can you replace the rod bearing inserts without dropping the engine?
3. What can be damaged from a spun bearing?
4. How do you know which bearing is spun?
5. And can the bearing be spun without the crank being damaged?

Thanks!

1. NO
2. I believe you need to drop the engine.
3. Depending on how bad it gets, the whole engine.
4. Crack it open and find out.
5. Yes.

Well, technically you can drive it with a spun bearing if you wish. I drove a truck with a rod knock for a while. Eventually you will hear a loud bang and oil will be strewn all over the roadway.

take the car off the road as soon as possible to avoid siezing the motor or destroying your heads once that rod lets go. i will post pics of what it looks like if you decide to drive on it when i find my camera.

the knock was heard at 2500rpm and was very quiet for about 2 months so i knew it was on its way out. then it all of a sudden got really loud driving home from work (6 mile trip) so i parked it and eventually pulled the motor to find this:

My first LS Engine spun a Rod due to the Oil Pump failing.. from the time it happened to the one mile I idled off of the highway it trashed the Crank out of true, and every other Bearing in the Engine was on the way out due to the metal in the motor.
