94 camaro lt1 fuel pump
Hi everyone im new to this forum. I have a 1994 camaro lt1 a4 with 140,000 miles that I got for 2 grand. I have recently added longetube headers a kand n cold air kit with a rebuilt transmission its a real fun car but the problem is the fuel pump died. I wanted to know could I use a fuel pump from a 1996 corvette because I really didnt want to buy the whole assembly for 170dollars and I need the car back on the road asap. I also wanted to know which fuel pumps are interchangeable with this camaro and will using a different fuel pump cause any harm until I buy the walbro for 100 . So i wanted to know what other cars fuel pump can I use from autozone?

Your best bet is to contact one of the vendors on here to get a Walbro 255. It's comparable in cost to a replacement and is an upgrade. I suggest ordering from www.racetronix.com.
But since you're on a tight time-frame and you'll be ordering from a store...when you order a fuel pump from Autozone, they'll give you just the pump, not the whole assembly.
How are you going to access the pump? Will you be dropping the tank or doing the "through the hatch" method?
Also, how have you determined that the fuel pump is the culprit? 0 fuel pressure?

When you buy the pump, get the pump install kit also, which contains the hoses, clamps and strainer sock.
Personally, I recommend the hotwire kit also, since the increased current demand of the 255lph pump (~10 Amps) will exceed the capability of the stock wiring harness.

I already have the pump out and I cut an acces hole in the hatch .I went to autozone and they couldnt sell me just the pump it came as a whole, thats why I was asking if the one from a 1996 corvette would work because they sell the pump by itself for that one

Did you use a guide for doing your fuel pump? Mine is going bad, I have the fuel pump ordered from Advance already, but I'm not too sure where to start cutting. A link to a fuel pump guide would be awesome.

IMO,get the racetronix pump and hotwire kit off ebay and do it rite one time i've had great experience with these,(single then duel in tank on FI)..not that anything will last for ever but both for a little more $$ than the price of just the $$walboro$$ .also pumps wont last as long if you run tank low alot.

i just did mine today walbro 255lph hp doesnt exactly just fit. i never see anyone show how they mounted theirs. if you dont use a stock pump they dont all just fit in the bucket. i cut my hole like the pic but whent all the way up the sides and folded it up. i did 1/2" on each side and 9/16' at the bottom like they did... you want to go up higher so you can get your hand in there to disconnect the fuel lines. as done in the pic would be really hard. and i was losing power big time mine was weak putting out only 27 psi while running. car would pop and crackle sometimes. stutter and stuff and lean out if i floored it doing a freeway roll. infact i thought my opti was going bad again lol but now my car smashes! gets sideways with every shift! its scarry really.

My 95 has two Walbro pumps in the tank. They are "hose clamped" to the bracket. And the fuel gauge works. The pumps are mounted one above the other. Had to put the float on after the pumps were in the tank, other than breathing gas fumes for a while it wasn't bad. Had to do some "adjusting" to get the right length on the top pump to keep it off the tank wall. Working around an open fuel tank scares the crap out of me. One spark and well... Disconnect the negative battery cable before you start and make sure you leave it off. One of my pumps is hooked to the factory wiring, the other has a relay that turns it on. Had a large wire to the trunk for the bottle heater and that's where got the 12 volts. Tank and heater have been retired. BTW: The two pumps were to insure fuel pressure with nitrous, the engine is happy with just one.
