Default Bad lifter, what problems could this have caused...

Okay guys so after doing all the rocker adjustments I have found a bad lifter, The "cushion" part is Hard as a rock! What problems could this have caused, Right before the rebuild my car started to loose power, almost as if something was holding it back, then it had a reading of zero oil pressure, so i shut it off and had it towed home for the rebuild... could this have been caused by the bad lifter?

So your car loses oil pressure, you do a cam swap calling it a "rebuild" and now your wondering what the problem could be. seriously?

If it wasn't holding oil pressure to begin with how would a cam fix that. You need to do a lot more them change the cam. Start by pulling the rod ends and main caps and check and see if you have burnt bearing. Odds are you need a real rebuild which from you other post you just need to take that motor somewhere and have it done right

called aaa and got it towed home and tear down, and yes its not a full rebuild but im doing a leak-down test and all before start to ensure nothing is bad if it is, then i need a 383 kit lol maybe some new heads too... whats it to you if i upgrade everything during my rebuild i think that is the best time to do it

Im not sure what you mean by this, if you watched the gauge drop to zero then it was running. Like i said pull the mains and rod ends check then bearing. Did you even bother pulling off the head to see if the cylinder walls are scared?

You really need to inspect the bottom end. I read some of your posts and, more importantly, looked at the photo's. You are in bad shape. If you don't slow down and do things the right way it is going to cost you.

Please stop referring to it as a "rebuild" because it certainly is not that. A leakdown check will not tell you that your bearings are hammered. Not to mention did you bother to inspect any bearings or have you found the cause of your oil pressure issues? Simply pulling something apart and throwing parts at it does not entail a rebuild which it is probably in need of.

nope never took the heads off, no1 told me this could cause a zero oil pressure reading, i can't do a leak down test? when i was rotating the motor it sounded like it was scratching so i put some oil in the spark plug holes and it seemed to get a little better...

Of coarse a bad bearing can cause a loose of oil pressure Pull the heads and mains and rod ends like I've been saying and see how much damage is actually done to this motor and trying to do work that you have no idea how to do will only make it worse and cost you more money. If I were you I would suck up my pride and admit you don't know what you're doing and take the car to someone who will do it right

well i know it can be but it wasn't smoking, it wasn't leaking oil, nothing that indicated any bottom end problems, the bearing are going to be checked next i guess, im not really trying to take the heads off, that's more than i can afford or have time for at this point, I need my car back and taking the heads off will mean new ARP bolts and gaskets and head work which i don't have money for at this point... anyone wanna a write up on how to take the heads off check for damage and list the tools and new gaskets/parts i am going to need?
