Default need help please havin problems again

ok heres whats goin on 96 trans am ws6 automatic ,headers and slp exaust are my only mods,so the car starts and runs fine cold ,but i drove it about 30 miles then parked it for 30-45 min then got back in it and it started then started cuttin out and died , i kept tryin to start it and it would start then die about ten times then it started and i pumped the gas petal like crazy and got it to kinda clear out a little then got back on highway and it finally cleared out and ran fine????? so i changed the fuel filter this morning and checked the fuel pressure and it was only 20-25 at idle and when you rev it up it would go down ,so fuel pump??? but why would it run fine after i got past all the sputtering and stuff ,so think that its the fuel pump? or what please help with any advise ...

Well if your getting 20-25psi at the rail you have fuel problems. Next thing to check would be the fuel pressure regulator. Use a mityvac to pull vacuum on the regulator and see if the pressure goes up. If not I would then check the pump out. Could have a failing pump, burst hose inside the tank, or clogged pick up.

How many miles on the fuel pump? might be going out. when you, key on engine off (KOEO) the fuel pressure should be 43.5 psi. +/- 2psi

could be the pump on its way out. Try to get a fuel pressure reading when it is sputtering and one when its running fine. 25psi is much too low and indicates a problem or problem gauge.

I agree, whats the mileage on the car? Also take the line off of the regulator and smell inside the line if theres an aroma of gas than your regulators probably going out.
