Default MSD mounting question

I'm curious where you guys have your MSD boxes mounted. I'm going to be putting it in tomorrow and I think I need to change directions. I have an LS1 center console and it looks like it will fit perfect. I was originally going to put it under the radio to fill the gap but I thought I remembered that these things make a buzzing sound or something? My neighbor also told me they get pretty hot too. I know it needs to be somewhere it wont get wet and with good air ventilation but I want to see what other people have come up with. One other thought I had was in place of the airbox on the right side of the engine, but it might get wet...?

i have seen several mounted right behind the relay box under the hood. they have been there for years and daily driven on in the florida heat/humidity/rain and have not had an issue that i am aware of.

MSDs instructions say do not install it in an enclosed space, so console, glovebox is out. There really isn't anywhere under the hood that is going to bother it. The air box is on the LH side. I've seen people mount theirs there when the stock air box was gone.

Ok, sounds good. One more question tho, the + wire says to go to the battery, should I put a fuse in there somewhere or is there one in the box? Also, is the a power source I can tap into that's closer than the battery itself? Thanks

the back or the alternator or the battery is the only place i would hook it up and i would put an inline fuse within 1 foot of the power source. i mounted my box behind the fuse center on the left side and i only use the 2 top mounting points to keep it held in place. has worked great with no problems at all.

Yeah mine is sandwiched somewhere by the CAI and relay box, didn't even bolt it down, been there for 5 years now no issues.

Damn AChotrod, more money is going to be spent now, I want to get rid of my ABS so bad. It was in the plans anyway, but look at all that space!

Awesome! I love the one by the hood latch, I was eyeing that spot earlier but couldn't think of a way to do it. Keep em coming!

Here's mine, I had to make a cover to keep the water off it, I washed the car right after I put it in and water was running off the front of the hood and right onto the box.

I'm about 30 miles west of Jacksonville Fl.

Here is a better picture of it mounted.

Cool, thanks for the ideas. I think LT1 and I are on the same page. Here is a pic of where I ended up putting mine. I really wanted to put it behind the hood latch, but I have the LS1 lid set up and I think it would block some air. I dont have a lot of "dress up" stuff in my bay so I wanted to be sure you could see it. It looks great next to my coil. I was glad I bought the looms to put the wires in, it looks almost factory.
