Default Ebay ported LT1 intake whaddaya think? Pics!

I just got my intake in that I bought off ebay. I've been keeping an eye out for one of these and I got it VERY cheap, just about as much as a stock one. It looks nice, I cant really tell if it's powder coated of just spray painted. Either way they did a good job with no overspray or runs which would make me think powdercoated. They didnt give much information in the description so I'm just curious if anyone can tell anything from just looking at it. The auction did say that it was ported to accept a 58mm TB, gasket matched, and the runners have been cleaned up/ported. It says "stage 3" written with a chalk pen or something on the bottom of the intake. I would guess (duh) that it's a stage 3 porting, or someone wanted 20 ricer hp, but you cant even see it and it's not a sticker so I wouldnt give it more than 5-10 . I took some pics of the runners, if anyone has some pics of stock ones that would be great to compare them to. Overall, I feel pretty good about it. There is definitely some porting going on on it so it's not just a stock piece and it's very clean and black. Also, I know there are a lot of ppl that claim the stock intake to be goo to 400+ hp, but I need to change the intake gasket and I just couldnt bring myself to put the stock one back on. It's more just something to add to my sig lol. Let me know what you guys think.

My only concern is this little part here. I have no idea what it is or what it does, or if it's even supposed to be there. It's just a little slit on the bottom that opens up to the top of the intake but it doesnt look like it leads anywhere? Any ideas?

Hole visible in the last pic- looks like aperture for PCV, if that hole is on the left side. If it's topside near the front, it's the aperture for the MAP sensor. Pic of the hole from the other side?

EDIT: just went to lok at a spare with the heat shield off- definitely your PCV aperture.

Yep, so remove the sheetmetal piece from the bottom of your stock manifold and put it on the "Stage 3" unit.

BTW - I have the very same manifold, but mine was painted LT4 red; it flows very nice, big difference at higher rpms. My turbo really likes it!

Cool, thanks for info. I'm glad to hear it's supposed to be there. It kind of looks like someone did it on accident.

Has there been any plenum work or only in the runners?

I saw that intake on Ebay. It come painted, runners ported, and bored for 58mm TB. They say it's good up to 525hp, so what is the stock one good up to?

Maybe one of these days people will learn to stop quoting giant pictures.

Also, LMFAO at the "Stage 3."

wandering whos stage 3 he is referring to? or how does one come to a stage 3 port job...

is
stage1- 1hr of labor
stage2- 2hr or labor
stage3- 3hrs of labor
stage4- serial horsepower gains 100hp plus, you could beat a honda riding on the intake like a skateboard..

what the heck ever happened to extrude honing? that stuff was suppose to be the best stuff since sliced bread, now you dont ever hear about it..

is the guy on ebay having these intakes flow tested?

That's paint dude, not powdercoat.

And a stock ported manifold won't give you **** in terms of HP. How much did you pay for that crap?

A ported intake manifold will not give you power to make the whole process and price worth-while (unless it's some crazy heads/cam setup and even that is debatable). I am sorry you thought it did...
