Default Dumb 1st time Header install question...

I went through a can of PB blaster and then bought a can of liquid wrench, on my driver side cat to manifold nuts. They aint moving for nothing. I have no torch for starters. I used a breaker bar and all the other gimmicks. Can I just drop the entire manifold+cat on the drivers side if not both sides?

Or...any other tricks besides torching the nuts? Also the only deep socket I have the actually fits snug on the nut is a 5/8 dunno if that would be the prob but doubt it seeing how snug it stays.

Just break the bolts. you wont use them anyway when you install longtubes with a y pipe? Or heat the engine real good, let the car run for a long time and beat the **** out of the car and then while the exhaust is real hot break all the bolts loose. Sometimes this works out for the good and other times it dont. You might just have to break them all

Their nuts on studs. Kinda hard to break. Dont wanna dremel them either just because of that little hidden top right bugger (in front of the fat pig cat) if I cant cut it im screwed. Something so small holding me back is ridiculous.

you can try to take the manifolds off with the stock y pipe, you are going to have to take the motor mount bolts out and jack the motor up.you are going to have to jack the motor when you install the headers, jack one side at a time, driver side from under the car, pass side from the top.

I talk to mechanic today, and he told me, easy way to get header bolt out is, to tight it until you heard it click, then unbolt it, reason you tight it first to break it loose, then untight it.

I doubt you'll be using the pipe or cat, so why don't you just sawzall through it? Have you tried an impact wrench on the bolts yet?

It might come out as one big piece if you lift the engine on that side. I tried removing it as one piece but the flange was too big. i had to cut a corner off the triangle shaped flange using a sawzall. Somehow i got it to work, it was a PITA.

I just cut through mine with a sawzall. Even with just the small piece of pipe left on, the manifold was a pain to get off. Dropping y-pipe + manifolds is probably a nightmare.

Yah i snapped 2 of mine off on that side. Put your purse down and push they will break off, or come loose. I had a horrible time getting the 2nd to last header bolt out on that side too it was rusted to hell, and it is tight in against the flange on the manifold. Not much room at all.

Long breaker bar, turn to the right. They'll come off. That's how I got mine off.

That's what I did when I did headers on my last z. Way more fun then using a breaker bar!

Sawzall or breaker bar as mentioned....That should take care of the problem.
