Default Exhaust question.

Still sort of new to the F body game, but not the mechanical world. I am going to be picking up a new set of headers and 3" ory soon. I want to snag up either this GMMG or Borla catback for the same price, but will it bolt up to a 3" Y or am I going to have to have a new pipe made to fit it, like the SLP LM systems have?

Most ORYs are set up to mate to a stock or stock-type cat-back system. Which headers are you going with?

Why go with a cat back exhaust sytem that's $1,000. Go with a Hooker or a Magnaflow for $300 - $400 and save the excess money for other things

That's what I was getting at. I've been told magnaflow is just as good as borla and that it sounds much better on an f-body.

They are both used for about 475$ guys, I would not pay that much new. I got a new exhaust for my eclipse when I had it for 420$. But I am gong to run Pacesetter non coated through their 3" ORY. Since I have read PS coating is crap for the 100$ extra.

GMMG is the best exhaust... best thing I ever bought for my Z until I took it off.

My jethot coating is still holding up fine 7+ years after the install.

Do you only drive the car in summers though? Me being in MI I will most likely see a bit of salt or snow before I can snag up another car to drive for the winter.

you could spend a little extra and get stainless headers. as for the the bolt up part, headers with a y to match should line up right where the catback starts, so don't buy those stupid $100 S bend pipes, that like magnaflow and slp offer

That sucks. I drove my 94 firebird in winter one year and it started rusting what seemed like instantly. Suppose it was a good excuse to sell it and buy a V8... where in Mi are ya? might bump into ya at a show sometime.
