idk y everyone bitches about that sensor. like any other sensor, it goes bad. and from what i hear, they are pretty cheap. i wouldnt know. iv had my car for 3 years daily driving it and mine has never gone out. it is very useful for giving u a heads up that ur car is about to overheat if u have a leak or forget to put the radiator cap back on or something.

My light stays on too. I never tried unplugging it. I figured the light would still stay on. It's not a waste of a thread, because I'm going to unplug mine and not have to look at that light anymore.

But like ElkySS says, it could be usefull if it's a cheap sensor. Then again, the coolant temp guage will tell me when somethings wrong.

unplugging it is way cheaper then 55$

If your the type that doesnt regularly check your fluid levels, it may be the sensor for you then.

I check all mine befor i race or atleast once a week. car leaves oil spots all over the place, amazingly, its still half quart overfull! Think she needs head gaskets, dont know if any of it could blow back and still be that high, especially since my water pump and opti are dry.

I didn't know unplugging it turned off the light. That light has been on for a couple years

I had issues with my coolant light for awhile. It was on when I bought the car, and I replaced the sensor with a unit from Autozone/Advance/whatever. It worked for about 2 weeks. Then I got smart and replaced it with a genuine Delco/Delphi unit. Has worked perfect ever since.
