Default Quote for true dual exhaust

Just got quoted from a custom exhaust shop to make and put on true duals with cats ~$1,200. Downtime 1-2 days. I'm unsure what cats/piping they're using - I don't think it's stainless.
This seem reasonable?...

I can't do it myself - getting cold outside, I don't know how to weld and I hurt my bike in a motorcycle accident this summer.

You should supply the cats, crossover and mufflers and then get another Quote.

Really? Can't you build your own true duals off summit for ~500-600? Then 5-6 hours of labor...+ materials...

That is way overpriced. I would def. provide the cats, mufflers and get a new estimate. As they are going to want to make some money with their cats and mufflers.

Im sure you could build your own but it would be a pita, if you were to go over the axle! Now if you dumped them before the axle i could def see it being pretty easy.

If it were me though I would stay with the catback and just utilize an electric cutout. As you would have the best of both worlds. I myself dont like any drone when im on the highway so the true duals are out of the question.

Cost wise you would be at about 650 if you chose to utilize a system like magnaflow and a dmh e-cutout.

Thats just my opinion, to each his own.

As for the cats I would use the same inlet/outlet as the piping you chose to run (2.5, 3.00in) I dont have to comply with any sort of emissions here in Kansas so I wouldnt know what to recommend as far as cats go.

That's reasonable if they are running them up over the axle and out the back.

Totally agree. To go up and over the axle is a lot of work especially if its quality mandrel bent work. Look at my TD's in my sig, I would not do that in mandrel aluminized for less than $1200 period. FTR I would guess I have 40 hours in the design, construction and finishing touches in my TD's.

Now if I had a hydraulic pipe bender and you did NOT want mandrel bent pipes, the price might be maybe half of that. I would guess a shop would do the same.

40 hours to design an exhaust system? You must have went through many revisions to take that long. And aluminized pipe sucks, stainless steel is the only way to go.

Not really many revisions, more like no compromises. The mandrel stainless pipes are welded with stainless. Welds are ground smooth and sanded for a seamless appearance. Polishing on the rear most pipes too. Very close attention to fit to ensure nothing rubs or bangs including using factory chassis mounted hangers. The two pipes going over the pan hard fixed support was a MF and took a lot of creativity to get right. Plus this was my first attempt at anything like this. If you look at the pics, you will easily see I was going for the grand slam homerun.

That sure is a purtty exhaust system. I can see why you put a $1200 price tag on it. To the OP, you can buy a Corsa or Borla system for $1200, that's way too much for a custom system.

So where are all these sub $1200 true dual systems that are run over the axle with cats? The kooks system is $1600 and I doubt that would bolt up to the OP's headers without any modification.

Even the Basanni is a grand for the stainless TD's assuming its still available and it still has to be intergrated into whatever headers are installed on the car. The Kooks is very nice too and by far the best "boxed" exhaust out.
