Default 1st time at the track...results inside

I don't have the time slips in front of me, but made about 6 or 7 passes. See sig for info.

Best run:

1.9 60'
13.30 @ 103mph.

Consistently running 13.5s and 2.1 60' but mph was 103 everytime.

I was expecting a little quicker , but generally pleased for my first time out (first time driver and first time car/motor has seen the track).

Right now, I have 225/60/16 tires on stock rims, so I know I could improve there quite a bit. And I've tuned the pcm myself from scratch, so I know there could be improvements there, and I'll probably just pay for a tune in the near future.

Feel free to chime in on other ways I could get this car running quicker (excluding nitrous, torque converter)

Why would you want to exclud a tourque converter? You don't have one but are running that cam? I think that would help you out A LOT. IMHO.

Either way, nice times for your first time out.

Yes, mods in the sig (which I just updated). The cam is actually pretty mild. It's not comp's 503, its the 305, which is a lot less aggressive. The reason I say excluding nitrous and converter is because I figured that would be the first thing everyone would say, and for good reason. I will get a converter soon, but I just shelled out $1200 on a transmission rebuild, so I have to wait on that. And it's a DD and I really don't want to sacrifice fuel economy and driveability just yet.

With the cheap skinny tires I have, it seems like I was taking off pretty good. I think wheels and tires are next on my list.

Just reading the times on here the last few months, I figured with a strong 383, I would be under or right at 13.0's my first time out and would be trying to improve to mid 12s. But actually, I'm at mid 13s and mid 12s is so far away. I guess I'll chip a little away at a time.

try some sticky tires, 1.6rr and weight reduction.. U really need a stall. a good 3600 stall probly pick u up 7ths if u can hook

Add a converter and sticky tires.

My old 93 T/A had the CC305 home ported heads, 3000 stall, 3.73s and sticky tires (also had LT headers) and it ran 12.20s and 30s regularly.

With your combo some tweaking and work will do better. Do yourself a favor and put a good converter in it.

I ran a cc305 for a couple years cam only, bolt ons ,LT's & ss3600. Ran 12.8s I know it was slow,but it was real slow from the start. 12s are not that far away with 3600 stall,3.73s, MT 255x50-16 DR's Might need some LCA's & CE drag shocks on rear to hook. I think you could get mid 12s out of it easy.

I started out with the shift points at 5500. My friend said to try lowering it because it looked like the car was losing power right before it shifted. So I went down to 5200, then to 5000, and it seemed like 5000 was the best shift point, so it would be in the powerband when it upshifts.

It just feels like the motor has the most power between 3000 and 4500.

Shouldn't I be shifting higher than 5000? Or is that normal?

When I had that cam my shift points were set a 6000.
