Default Walbro 255LPH install... only 10PSI.

My 1994 Firebird Formula needed a fuel pump, so I decided to go with a Walbro to support my LS swap down the road. I got it hooked up and it ran very rich but ran strong and acted completely fine... Then it died. I borrowed a pressure gauge to find it is getting only 10 lbs of pressure.

Has anyone got an idea??? My only current thought is that the pressure line in the tank must have partly come off or cracked. There are no signs of an external leak. All I can say is thank God I cut a hatch!

Yeah get a hose for your gauge and after you confirm the install, check pressure by the filter see if it's still 10 psi there, there could be a restriction in the fileter or in the lines.
Could also be the regulator.

Where did you buy the pump from? There have been issues with Chinese knockoffs lately.

There are known issues with the black rubber hose many pumps come with too. That hose is actually not rated to be submerged and when it is is splits but usually take longer.

If you buy from Racetronix they supply a new flex hose like the stock one.

I got the pump from High Flow Performance... It came with the clear bendy straw style tube like the stocker. I changed the fuel filter at the same time as the pump. I will check the flow pre-filter and see what it does. I guess i can only cross my fingers that the pump is the real deal. It said made in U.S.A. on the actual pump.

Forgot to add that if you check it inline by the filter to "T" it in.

I will T it in if I can, all the tools where I work are in a truck that is privately owned and goes home every night.

I dont know how you got a walbro pump from HFF, but i bought one of their pumps awhile back and it just died on me, replaced with a genuine Walbro and the car ran fine. They use the plastic gears in their pumps which strip out.

It also had the same Walbro part # on the case... If it is fake I am going to sell my car and truck for a damn bicycle. I am so sick of buying useless parts. I would rather be skinny and have money anyways.

If its putting some pressure up to the rails then there is a leak or restriction on the output sid eof the pump, if the pump shredded the gears it would make noise and do nothing.

I also just thought if you have a major leaky injector the pressure will never come up very high either.

GOD DAMMIT!!!! I just bought a walbro from them too, didn't resolve ****, but I found out that with the ignition on I'm getting 7.5 volts to the plug that is close to the pump, at the battery I got 12.2 and at the relay I got 11.4, so the harness should be bad, already ordered one should be here tomorrow will let you know if that fixes it

I'm having the same issue with my walbro, bought it from SpeedTweekerz, a sponsor on this site. I was only getting 10-15 psi.. went into the tank and found the pump was spraying gas out of a small hole next to the fuel line on top of the pump. Weird. But they are warrantying it out for me.

They heavily advertise the pump to be a true Walbro. I will get to the bottom of the problem. This pump has only been running for about 10-15 minutes and sounds the same as the first time I turned the key. I should have some sort of update later today.

I was asking my resident mechanic about it early yesterday and he said that the pump only gets 12ish volts for a few seconds right when the key is turned on and then the voltage drops to simply maintain pressure and not overwork the pump. May or may not apply to your case. The first thing I was going to do was check the voltage.

I was lazy today... All I did was yank the connector off the back of the fuel filter and turned the key on to see nothing but a trickle of fuel. I hate my life haha. Whatever is wrong is in the tank.

Well, I have been lazy lately. The car is going to be parked until early next year due to lack of funds and will to work on it. I am considering stripping the car completely down to the body and starting fresh, even though it will take a couple years to get done that way.
