Default lt1 swap 240sx?

just figured id throw some pics of my project out n see what kind of feedback i get.

my 240sx was a pretty fun car but i relay liked the way my friends car felt with an hot camed lt1. a friend of mine got a job to take out an old tired lt1/t56 out of a 93 trans am and put in a 5.3 with 4l60e. so i thought id just take that old engine clean it up and throw it right into my car....... haha
anyway here's some pix:

things sat for a long while while i got parts and did research on the best way to get this engine in the car. i got pretty exited when i finally got my oil pan from Mckinney Motorsports. but while installing it i noticed one of my cam lobes was all ground down. so i searched for a stock cam for a while and finally decided to go with the cc503. while installing the cam i noticed the cam bearings were shot. so i tore the engine down cleaned all the parts and rebuilt it with King alecular pro series bearings. on the heads i used comp beehive springs and retainers along with Jegs 1:6 ratio roller rockers had the head decked down .010 and sealed them to the block with mr gasket ultra seal .026 thick head gaskets:

I also found on an lt1 forum somebody using a relay nice alternator relocation technique:

Pretty cool. Any plans for this build? bolt-ons only? h/c? I never seen an LT1 in a 240sx. Should be interesting. I wonder what 1/4 times it will run with a stock LT1 in that car...

EDIT: nevermind, just as I posted you posted those engine shots ha. Should be a fun ride man!

on a side note, im also using a painless wiring harness, chipped 93 ecu by Madtuner Mckinney motorsports engine and tranny mounts and a willwood 7/8" master cylinder from hinson supercars designed for the ls1>240sx swap

i do plan on using some afr's or LE. heads not sure wich ones, but i am pretty exited to see what is the max power i can squeeze out of a stock bottom end, so i will probably wait until it blows up before i upgrade the rotating assembly, and then i still plan on keeping it at or under 355 ci.

I appreciate the hard work, but isn't that gonna make your car real nose heavy?

I have searched a lot but haven't really seen anyone with quite the same set up i am using. -.035 off the deck height(+/- 11.5:1 cr), cc503 cam, stock ports, 1.6 roller rockers, long tubes, speed density tune and high flowing intake. what type of power you think i should expect to the wheels?

Ive looked into that as well. the stock iron 4 cylinder is actually relay close to the same weight as the small block. the main weight gain is the monster t56. but its so far towards the middle of the relatively short s13 that it really hasn't much affect to the weight ratio. there is someone using a 400 small block into a 240 and he has reported a neer 50/50 weight distribution based on the results of a 4 wheel scale

this is from his thread on http://silviav8forums.com/forum/view...t=sbc&start=90 this car is using a 400sbc so i figure my weights should be similar

"""Here are my weights, which puts the split at .5% off from stock, and 24 pounds more dry than a stock S13, with all interior there and 1/2 tank of gas. I weigh about 180, so figures will be a little higher. coilovers arent set, hence the left to right variance."""

had to go to tucson arizona for some work so me n my buddy had a day of working on the car. im going to be here for a couple months so iv just had him continue working on it while im over here. hope its done when i come back!

took out cross member to clean it.

beat the **** out of my firewall.

sanding and painting orange motor mounts black.

took out carpet while waiting on them to dry. using older pre 1991 single cam carpet because it holds up better.

still drying.

my buddy starting to put stuff together.

getting it rolled under the car.

starting to lower the car over the engine.

ran into a clearance issue from my alternator relocation,

excuse the rushed welds. it was getting late lol

and there she is!

decent clearance.

flush.

hood closes,

everything is still a mess. there is a ton of work planed to get the engine bay looking clean. and tucking the wireing and plumbing nicely.

shifter fits perfectly.

engine sits mostly behind front wheels.

there she is about 10 hours after starting to take the cross member off.
