"You need a cage. Go see tech."
... said the nice timeslip person when handing me my slip. Best news I'd heard in a long, long time.
When I first got to the track I bolted up the wheels and went. Ended up with this (left lane):
Pretty happy I figured I'd let the car cool down for about a half hour before running again. Did so, and ended up with this (left lane):
It was then I was informed I could not run again. ****, I was just getting started!
So there you have it. It's amazing what a proper gear/tire combination will do. Prior to this I was running 3.73 gears and 26" ET Streets. The car was no where near it's powerband when crossing the traps and couldn't launch for nothing.
Car weighs 3750lbs with me in it. During my 84 mile trip to the track I rocked the cruise control, bumped some old school, rough, six-in-tha-mo'nin' type ****, got stuck in traffic, putted around between 1300 and 2000rpm, no problem and had a ball.
This is a street car in every sense of the word. This is why I built the engine the way I did. Not to chugalug with the herky jerkys below 3000rpm rendering 6th gear useless. I wanted an engine that behaved as good as stock. I believe, for me I have the best of both worlds.
I want to thank the several for all the support. You know who you are.
Now... to get a paint job.
