Question what would you do?

what would you do, if you had a stock LT1, stock motor, stock a4 transmission, suspension, exterior, etc.. (really trying to see what i can do with $2000 on my stock 94 Z28 vert) but what mods would you guys do and what would be first?

I agree with SexyTransAM good advice.

I would also recommend basic stuff like intake, long tube headers, exhaust and stall, that stuff will make a noticeable power gain.

1) cold air 2) catback 3) cutout 4)headers (optional as it is a pain to do) 5)tune & 160 deg stat 6)all the free mods like TB bypass & manual fan switch 7)ragjoint eliminator 8)airfoil.

Once you do all these easy/cheap things then look at something like stall (gotta remove tranny) gears (requires special tools to get the gears set correct) 1.6 roller rockers (gotta take out all the plugs to use air to hold up the valve if you replace springs at the same time)

also consider an electric water pump to free up some HP. once you get this far then you can start to consider doing heads and cam

also subframe connectors and a rear end girdle would be a good idea to help protect some stuff. An exhaust cutout with an electric switch that allows you to go from quite to super loud and free flowing might be a better route than a catback as you can control the noise and flow as you see fit

More gear teeth per same diameter = thinner teeth = weaker than stock. Dont put money into the 10 bolt. Just nurse it until you have enough money for a new rear. LTs, cutout, 1.7 roller rockers, tune, intake, converter, your good.

What makes you think 3.42 gears are perfect for an a4 car?

I always always recommend doing suspension first, like LCAs and reloc brackets, panhard, SFCs, etc. Then from there, stall it and do a gear.
