Talking AI 355 Track Results.....Finally

Well, I hit the track yesterday and was pleased with my first time out results. I made 5 passes. I worked on the 60' mostly, ran a couple 1/8 mile passes and made only 2 1/4 mile passes. At first I couldn't get the car to hook. I worked on the tires first, I dropped them from 22psi to 17psi and the car still spun. I let some air out of the air bag and the car started to hook finally. It didn't feel like it was spinning, but the best 60' was only a 1.61, my best 1/8 mile was 7.32. I wish I would have run the 1.61 out the back, but I was just testing the suspension. On the next pass I ran it out and let off about 100ft. short of the traps, this was my fastest pass of the day. I let off because I wanted to make a N20 pass and my car doesn't have a cage and I felt I was close to 11.49 which is the cutoff, good thing I did here is the shake down of that pass NA the DA on this run was 1321ft. I launched the car at 2300rpm on this pass.

60'.... 1.647
330'... 4.779
1/8..... 7.362
MPH.... 93.91
1000... 9.661
1/4...... 11.509
MPH..... 117.69

So, after this I was ready to run the N20 and get the infamous 10 sec time slip. Wouldn't you know, my bottle was freakin' empty. I dunno if it was left barely cracked open and it leaked out over time or what. I had enough to purge at the line but when I launched it, no n20 I ran the car out the back with the fuel solenoid engaged and it still went 11.602@116. I was only on a 100 shot. Got back to the pits and I had nothing but air in the bottle. So after this I was going to go back and see if I could break 11.49 NA but a car wrecked and they shut the track down. Like I said, not the best times but definitley good for the first time out. If I can get the 60' down and some better weather in Jan. I think there is a good possibility I can get some low, low 11 sec ETs out of it how the car sits. In the future I may change the rear gear from a 3.73 to a 4.10 and see what she does. I was only coming through traps at 6100 and I have been shifting at 6800. Also, going to a shorter, smaller tire to make to most of it. I'm running the 325/50/15 MT's currently till they're wore out. I'm just afraid I won't be able to spray it then. Anywho, I think if I set the car up for NA only I could click off some 11.0's with some negative DA. Here is a list of mods.

355
Ai 200cc Heads
228/234 Baby Cam
Full Bolt on's
3.73's
325/50/15 MT's
TH350 4500 stall
3510 Raceweight, went up with the new 12bolt and subframes. I also put on some weight myself

There was a guy out there taking some professional photos of the car. I will post a link to them when he posts them up.

Not too shabby. Get the 60' there, and you'll see low 11's.

Changed the front wheels? I still like it

He was borrowing my drag wheels which are Greg Welds up front and Pro stars in the back....

Now he has his own set which are all pro stars...So that's why he changed them

Gotcha.

What did you have to do, to switch from a M6, to an auto?

I was disappointed when I couldn't spray it, I was hoping to get that 10 second slip.

It's easy, Trans, Converter, dipstick from madman, shifter, crossmember, and misc. things like flywheel bolts and loctite. Your flexplate will work, but I bought an new one from TCI

Actually, I may try talking MattSapp95_T/A into going to SGMP here in about a month, if he's down you can just goo to the track and meet us.

I know, I need to put it on a diet for sure. I think the main this is the car is not sixyt footing like it should. I'm about a whole tenth off out of the hole. If I can get it mid to low 1.5's the car will go alot faster I think. My 1/8 mile times just don't add up well.
