Valve covers, oil caps, breathers, etc.
Hello all,
Piecing together my build and trying to get everything back together, but I have a few questions.
Bought some ebay valve covers which come with 2 access holes on driver side cover and zero on the passenger side.
1.) It looks like they (holes) are a bit smaller than the stock ones. I am guessing maybe 1 inch or 1 and 1/8 instead of the stock 1 1/4. I've been scowering Summit and my local parts store, I can't seem to find an adjustable cap or a smaller cap size. Anyone know of a source for these?
2.) Is the ventilation system important on the stock passenger VC? I could just cap it off and be done with it, or I could use the second hole and make some sort of breather similiar to the old system. I won't bother though if it isnt important.
Thanks in advance!

1.) I had the same problem. I just cut the grommet on the breather down to fit. Although measuring it would be stupid easy.
2.) The tube on the passenger side valve cover provides the PCV system with fresh air to displace crankcase gas. Some argue that keeping the tube is important because it is MAF-metered and deleting it could cause a slightly rich condition. This is debatable though and I've never seen any evidence to prove it is necessary. FWIW I deleted mine and put a standard breather on.

I have Canton tall covers. I kept the PCV breather tied to the TB with a Mr. Gasket 2054 breather. I ditched the grommet it came with and used a baffled grommet (5425) as extra insurance against oil induction into the intake. 2 baffles in one, so to speak.

You should be able to find a threaded cap for the oil filler somewhere, maybe plumbing supply if you strike out elsewhere.
Got a pic of the covers?

Ok, wow... notch for the alt. on the correct ('right') side and 2 holes with no threads on the left side... sounds like a rubber-bottomed oil cap and a breather. No good way to use the PCV tube to the TB, so it'll need to be capped. Hmmm... I've been looking at a similar pair with a threaded oil cap hole and a 1.0/1.22" PCV breather hole for my red car project.

Yes, these are eBay vcs, not the Cantons. Was looking for a simple solution. I guess I could enlarge the holes.
Breathers seem more customizable, so perhaps I can just double up on them.
