Order a Performabuilt 4L60E. www.performabuilt.com

I can vouch for them. Great guys, great reliability, good prices too. I've been beating the snot out of mine for a year and a half now and it's still kicking.

EDIT: Also, they come with a 2 year warranty (if you buy one of their converters) and require no core. They are also a site sponsor.

Its all in who builds it. I run mid 10's on juice shifting on juice in my 60E. My car weighs 4050 lbs. no trans problems at all. Last time at the track the drive shaft let loose and busted the case but can't blame the trans on that.

someone on ebay called coastal transmisssion has a stage 3 lt1 4l60e trans SUPPOSEDLY? capable of taking 750+ h.p. $1,599 free shipping no-core 2 or 3 year warranty idk never heard of em.im going to spray this car and use a progressive so that way it does not hit this trans or chassis and tear **** up.i bought a transmission from jackson transmissoin with a trans brake for only $1,100 bux put it behind a 800hp big block and beat the snot out of it for 2yrs with no-issues.really leaning that way hard, more bang for the buck!this car was suppose to be my street hot rod but we all know how that goes,im a glutten for punishment .what do i have to do to put a th400 in the car?someone must make a aftermarket tailshaft kit or something ive heard of a lot of guys putting the 400 in this chassis?

$2,895 for a trans with no trans brake and buy a stall on top of that.im far from tight but would never pay that kind of money to keep an overdrive trans in the car,i have less than that into my forged shortblock.someone out there within driving distance from me has to be able to build this trans at a much better price using what i already have.you can buy 3 BUILT th400 trans without the trans brake for what they want for one built 4l60e.at $2,895 for a trans im in the wrong line of work

Expect to pay upwards of $3,000.00 for a "properly" built 4L60E with the "correct" parts. Converter not included.

This is absolutely the case. OD transmissions have more parts and require more labor than their 3-speed counterparts, making them more expensive. If you want OD, you've got to pay to play. Performabuilt offers the best combination of reliability and price. It's holding my 600HP motor just fine.

How much power are you making? Have you considered swapping to a 4L85E?

Crossmember, driveshaft, converter and harness plug change will be needed as well as a PCM tune to control it. Not easy or cheap but it's do-able and will be stronger than you'll ever need in an F-Body.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...l80e-swap.html

The 4L85E is the same as the 4L80E with some stronger parts internally.

I had Kenny Langlois (Lang Transmission in Milan Michigan) rebuild my 4l60e a couple of years ago. He's mainly a powerglide guy but my trans is holding up pretty well. Lives about a mile from the dragway. I think I paid about $700 for it. 734-439-7442
