Don't forget if you plan on racing at all or just want to keep the power under a bit more control, suspension is always a good place to start also. Things like lower control arms, strut tower brace, subframe connectors, good tires, shocks, etc.

Is the car auto or 6-speed. 300 hp at the wheels is not too hard and can be achieved with bolt-ons most of the time. Get a goos set of lonetubes headers, good exhaust or true duals depending on how loud you want, a cold air or ls1 lid. If its auto you will want a stall and gears or just gears for M6 plus a tune once everything is done

factory rated: 285. with intake and exhaust your at 300 instantly. GM purposely used constrictive exhaust for the f-body LT1s would have less HP and TQ than the Y-Body ones, they have the same computer programming, camshaft profiles, the only thing different is the exhaust and intake, and of course the 4-bolt mains.

Brands reall depend on your budget. You can find pacesetter longtubes on ebay pretty cheap and there are even some stainless ones that come with a y-pipe for about $300. For exhaust like I said it depends on how loud you can handle. I have about $150 in my true duals but they are loud. A good catback will be fine for you something like Loudmouth or Hooker. Flywheel horsepower is just that power at the flywheel which will be more then what the car puts out at the wheels due to power loose through the drivetrain.

Well, I would for sure start out with suspension. UMI makes some quality stuff, and there usually are sponsor sales on this site all the time for their stuff. As for exhaust, I had GMMG on my Z before my turbo setup, and I was in love with it. But it is pricey, and hard to locate used. But I would get it again in a heartbeat. As for other mods, I would say from their, get a stall and a trans cooler. But as for the stall, it depends on really what your ultimate goal is with this car.
I had a K&N FIPK kit on my Z before my turbo setup, and it was good for .2 at the track. But for sure, start out with suspension (lower control arms, torque arm, LCA relocation brackets, panhard bar, subframes, etc.). Hopefully this helped you out.
And again, this all depends on what your budget is.

**** the LT1 do an LS1 swap! Haha, kidding. But, 285 horse stock, headers good catback, cai, tune, and gears, plus some suspension should get you a really fun yet realiable street car. Good luck, keep us posted!
