Default Good deal?

Well finally got a price out of my machinist today and he told me 900 bucks for the 355 short block with regular pistons or 1k for forged pistons. This is all the machine work the crank balanced and everything. So what do you guys think?

Sounds decent to me too, hopefully you're considering a cam upgrade and what are you planning for the heads? At least cam-match the head components and rebuild the heads w/improved parts, port match, hand-port, etc, unless you're not planning on aftermarket heads.

Sounds about right. A reputable shop around me wants $1200 to do a shortblock.

That is because you live in Commiefornia. They also think a pizza is worth $25.

Depending on what parts he is using, for that price you'll get new .030 over pistons and reuse the stock crank and rods I would assume. Also request new ARP hardware.

think the rods would be new but he said he would use the stock crank but would balance it and clean it up the stock crank is good enough for my build for sure though
