Default How do I prevent water from coming in while parked with a aftermarket Ram Air hood.

Not sure if I am going to go with a ram air kit on my firebird, but I am worried if water gets in the ram air holes while driving or parked. Is there a solution to this.

Drill small holes in the nostrils towards the bottom for water to drain.

If any of you actually had a ram air hood, you'd know that they are baffled to keep rain out.

Hey smart guy, I have one. The OP might not.

My brother had an aftermarket one (which holy cow if the OP might have an aftermarket one too! OMG!) that had no baffle for rain water.

My OEM hood:

You can see the baffle.

Take your superior attitude somewhere else. It's so f'ing annoying.

That is what I meant a baffle or something of that nature. Duct tape is not a solution for me. LOL!

What about while I am driving, if need be.

Might have to not drive in bad rain or get a second intake or use your stock intake that you can swap when it's raining. It's not like you need any performance in the rain.

LOL

water hits the baffle and drains downward before entering the engine. you may have to make a baffle

A little water injection is fine.... it will actually do some good by clearing out the carbon buildup.

Someone get this guy a tissue. Shouldnt be enough water getting through to have any effect. Unless your driving in a monsoon, which in that case, i would be more worried about water coming up from underneath.

I have no baffles or anything in my ram air hood, and I live in central Florida, it rains a lot. I have driven in some bad rain, like can hardly see bad rain, and have not had a problem with water getting into the intake.

I wouldnt worry to terribly much. I have my filter behind my license plate and drive it in all kinds of weather. I was worried at first but, havent had any problems. Dont give it to much gas while its raining. If your still worried tho, you could try to put a pre filter in the mouth of the hood. itll allow airflow. but will collect the water and have it drip to the bottom
