Question Help me setup my exhaust

I have eBay headers with the 3" ory that it comes with then goes down to the stock 2.75 I pipe with a POS flowmaster welded in with some crush bent center mount exhaust. It goes down to like 2" with all the crushing needed to get it in the middle. BTW this exhaust was in the car when I bought it, I think it looks terrible.

So I ended up finding another flowmaster almost complete cat back that a peace of the I pipe was cut off. All mandrel bent pipes still in tact. I bought it for $20! The actual muffler body is bigger in every way then the one that's on my car now. So its gotta be better than what I got. My plan is to use this cat back with a electric cutout or two.

I'm thinking going with 1 of 3 ways I've thought about unless you guys suggest something better. In all three ways I'm going to put a small glasspack muffler in the I pipe to tone it down a little. This is my daily driver.

1. Dual 3" cutouts in the y pipe if they fit.
2. Single 3" cutout after the y pipe
3. Single 3.5" cut out after the y pipe and cut out the 3" merge in the y pipe and weld in a 3.5" pipe. Then back down to 3" after the cutout.

I know flowmasters suck for fbodys. But I got this for next to nothing and ill open up The cutouts at the track for the extra flow. This car is my daily driver and mods in sign. (95 camaro)

Thanks, and sorry for the story book. @ work board with too much time on my hands.

*edit* ill try to upload pics of what I have now tonight. I'm on my phone and it wont let me.

First off I'd ditch the flowmaster asap. It may sound good but it is restrictive if you're going for every last bit of power. Dual cutouts sound great at idle with a cam but if you plan on driving it with the cutout open, put the cutout under the back seat. It sounds the best and it will provide enough backpressure to where you'll see an increase in power(minimal at best).

Thanks formula ws6. I know flowmasters are restrictive, that's why I want to put the cutout(s) for the track when I want Max power. I didn't know about the placement differences tho

Option 3-check the link below and go to post #9, yes its a ls1 but the same ypipe/cutout principles apply
