Default block drain plugs

does anyone else find it hard to get to the block coolant drain plugs? the exhaust seems to be in the way? is their any tips anyone has for getting to them?

I found it very difficult to get the driver side block drain plug out when I changed my heads on my '97 SS. I even found it harder to put back in. But a nice swivel tip extention, time, and determination did the trick, but this was years ago, wish I could be of more help.

Assuming that you can get at the drivers side plug, I suggest that you replace it with the "socket style" brass plug, the kind you use an allen wrench on. They won't "round off" like the hex head plugs will. IIRC, the passenger side "drain plug" is actually the knock sensor....
