Golen Heads

Golen Heads
I can get a set of golen lt1 bowl ported heads at a good price. I am just wondering how they would match up against LE1 heads. The le1 heads have stock valves, the golen heads have Manley Stainless Steel 2.00"/1.56" valves. One would think the golen heads should be close to the stock valve le1 heads with the advantage of larger valves. What do you guys think? here is a link to the golen heads http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/lt_parts.html; they are not the cnc heads or I would have took them right away.

If that is true then they would have to be some decent heads. I am not looking for anything crazy just a little extra hp with my hot cam and no leaking valves like mine.

Dig up that LT1 head shootout they did a while back in GMHTP, Golen had their heads as part of the test. Can't beat dyno results to show how they compare to other options. If you're on a budget I don't think you can beat LE1 heads for performance to cash ratio.

Yes the GMHTP only shows a comparison of CNC ported heads, not the bowl ported heads I am interested in. But if Lloyd did the porting I am sure I will be more than happy with them.

i just bought a set off ebay from chad golen,by looking at the pics i would guess they were comparable to LE budget heads but im not sure.my heads were cracked so i couldnt beat them for 750.,chad has very good customer service also.i hope they work well cause i got a LE custom cam to upgrade the hotcam that i had.i didnt get them yet since i upgraded the springs that chad normally puts on the heads for a little extra $.

I emailed LE about the Golen heads and he said "NO WAY" they will flow 255cfm. And from the pics on ebay he said they will only be about 10 hp over stock; I think he is talking in rwhp. I have decided to go with LE1 heads; LE is going to reuse my springs saving me $100 on the heads. I am starting removal of my heads tomorrow.
