Is it bad that I can change transmissions faster then I can do an intake gasket swap?

Just did my gasket swap and it was ~2 hours including a 20mins part trip, while I swapped out my trans in 1 hour and 27 minutes by myself and a floor jack.

Comment.

Edit: yes im bored as hell.

damn that's pretty quick on the tranny drop! the last time i had mine out i think it was about 2 hours, that was my 5th time i think.

intake gasket took me longer than my tranny as well; granted i was messing around with it, seeing how hard it would be to port

Since your so quick, I'll ask how do you go about getting the top bolts out of the bellhousing?

for my T56 i use about a 3' extension and ratchet from the back of the tranny. best way for me.. but it would certainly take me longer then that lol

I wish I could have the trans in and out in a hour and a half. I've got it down to a one day project now, which I thought was good.

I think it takes me about that long to remove the trans (4L60E). Let's see...

Six bellhousing bolts - LONG extension
Four cross-member bolts
Two cooler lines
Four pinion yoke nuts for the driveshaft
Dipstick
Wire connection
Linkage

Done. Yeah, about a half hour to pull it out probably.

i've only pulled it once and it was easy except for the trans lines stripping.

Back before I switched builders I went through 7 in 2 years. I could have them swapped in about 45 minutes to an hour.. Of course that was with a 2 post floor hoist.

Luckily I havent had to touch it for 2 years other then maintaining it.

I didn't think the trans was to bad, granted it took me a long time but hey it was my first time doing it. I dont know how you guys get the top 2 bolts with long extenitons i tired that and couldn't get it to work. I found it easier to just lay on the motor and sitck a wrench down behind the motor and get those 2 bolts. Yes it takes a long time and is hard on the hands but it worked for me. I hated the trans cooler lines too those where kinda of a bizzatch.

4l60 trans

I lower the rear tail housing and get the top bolts first then work my way down. takes like 10 minutes.
