Love my Comp 875s ("type R"), and they're good for high-RPM applications. 1/8 turn past zero lash...

I had a set of those in my car for a while. They were a PITA to get set properly, but when I finally did, they worked reasonably well. However, since I store my car in the winter, but start it up 2-3 times while it's stored, the really cold weather causes everything to contract, and the Comps got REALLY noisy. I took them out, and re-installed the OE lifters.

The Comps are back in the box, sitting on the shelf...

IMO, stick with a factory replacement lifter. If you are really wanting to step-up your valvetrain more than they can handle, its time to put your purse down go solid-roller.

Im in the same boat here. I have my OE 79k mile lifter in and they seem to be pretty noisy. I just don't know what to replace them with. After all these LS7 lifter threads I may just leave the stock ones in for now and deal with the noise..

get a morel or comp short travel. Not exactly cheap. If you want stock replacements I have some brand new crane lifters sitting in my garage. Or you can buy my great old-style 875s that I've been running for ~30k miles. And I'll spend the dough on the morel short travels

it elimintates the dog bone and spider setup in the lifter valley.......the link bars connect the lifters in pairs to stop them from spinning in the bores........mainly used on solid roller setups.....

heres a pic of them in my motor.......

Howards Cams lifters are made by Morel and are only $150. They are a nice factory style lifter with built in oil restrictors and are easy to set like OE lifters. I used them in my Formula.

no..... the howards "pro max" and "race" stuff is morel, the 91170 and 91163. That's it. The other stuff is the OEM style cast body. the lunati 72530s are morel lifters as well, just like the PBM930s.

gregrob, I'm sure the valving and plunger is the same between the 875s and the 15850s or whatever the new black ones are. I'd really like a billet body with what I'm trying to do spring pressure-wise, and I'm not sure the 15850s are billet, they look just like a REM finished cast body but I've never held one in my hand.

Well, I've been duped then. The salesman I spoke to at Howards said that the LT1 lifters that I got through them were made by Morel.
