$1000ish for good rods and pistons.
$2800ish in heads/cam, valvetrain, intake porting, gaskets.
Probably drop $800 at the machineshop for machining without assembly once you figure balance, bore, deck, line hone, hot tank, install cam bearings, polish the stock crank.
Should probably budget another $1000 for things like oil pump, new opti, unwelcome surprises.
Then you have to consider is the car ready? Do you have a larger fuel pump, bigger injectors, full exhaust, good CAI, stall or clutch, gears, some basic suspension work to help avoid wheelhop which can destroy the axle.
I am sure a bunch of folks are going to tell me it can be done cheaper, and yes it can, BUT plan for the worst and hope for the best and if you try and cheap out too much you will spend more in the end.

It all adds up quick as anyone on here will tell you... i got alot of my engine parts used which youd think would save alot of cash but still cost me 6000-6500. Bought my 355 shortblock used with 4k on it but decided to tear it down and cost me 800 in new bearings, rings, hone, and crank re cut and polished. Cost about 500 in labour. My heads got for a decent deal ended up costing me 450 to get rebuild, new guides, and valvejob, etc. But again like said about the little things that you figure wouldnt happen but do happen and can be costly. Yeah it cost me more but i know everything is now 100% and ready to rock. Use the for sale forums and many different forums you can find some sweet deals out there on alot of stuff i know cause i saved a lot vs buying new.
