Default Keying Crank

I'm lookin pick up a keyed crank hub and install a key into the crank snout. Is it possible to do this properly with the motor in the car? also any links to good hubs to use that will work with the stock dampener along with the proper key size?

Crank is already slotted for a key, I know Jegs makes a keyed hub for 95-97, not sure if they also make one for 92-94 or if you would need to shim the 95+ hub. Pack of woodruff keys at advanced auto will have one of the right size.

yeah I knew there was a slot, just wasn't sure if it was possible to remove the old key and install a new one with the motor in the car.

I ordered a keyed crank hub for my 93 from summit and it came with the key. I did it with motor in the engine bay crank still installed.

It was a pain in the *** to get the factory key out. Granted I have horrible car luck when it comes to fixing things. I did mine for the 24x.

I was reading things online like use a pair of vice grips, it should pull right out! Yeah OK!

Mine didn't have a key from the factory. Granted mines a 93, but my hub was rotated 180* from its original location when I removed it lol.

LT1 hubs are NOT keyed, for some reason. The crank, however, has a provision for a key.

I bought my dampner from jegs, along with the snout, and installed mine right in the car. I did buy a set of woodrif keys from auto zone. I had to do some sanding to get it to fit both the crank hub and crank. They offer crank hubs for the respective years., and it is kinda funny that the underdrive dampner is $10 bucks cheaper. Still went with standard one for my set up.
