Cam/bolt on + nitrous guys....
This has probably been answered befor, i did a search and maybe i just searched for the wrong thing.
Does anyone have a cam only car with stock bottom end and a shot? Im curious as to what the heads can take and what the block can take. There are alot of cam only cars, and alot of nitrous only cars. How much are you stressing the limits of the stock bottom end by doing a cam plus say a 75-125shot of nitrous? im thinking just a 100 shot. A cam should put a lt1 into the ballpark range of 330rwhp give or take 10-15hp with stock heads. I beleive nitrous only cars have put down around 400rwhp? if im wrong let me know.
I was happy with the direction my car was heading, and its actually close to being back together now . Im wondering what numbers people are doing, dyno and track times, with a cam only car + a small shot. If you have time slips or dyno numbers that would be great, also maybe a "reliability" report would be nice, just wondering how safe it is.
Thanks guys..

my old stock block was taking 125 dry with extra psi on the fuel system. it was afr head with a small cam. i never got it to the track before i took it out too rebuild. when we were tuning it i believe it was making 430's to the ground. that was many years ago though.

cool. Im thinking about a 100 shot with my build now. sounds like everyone has had great results. Makes me wonder why more people dont do a cam and a small shot, it sounds like it works well.
No blown motors from this i take it guys? assuming everything is set up properly?

most people are scared of nitrous. bad rap from movies and dumb people....
the stock rods can hold ~500 hp don't be afraid to make some hp. The only draw back on nitrous is what the pistons can hold. There are a few running crazy amounts of N20 but those are exceptions and not the rule.
I wouldn't be afraid to run a 380 rwhp motor and a 150 shot. Precise tuning is required

In the next month or two I'll be making som passes in my new set up. Car made 391rwhp since then I've put a bigger cam in it and I plan on spraying a 125shot. The cars set up for drag racing ie weight reduction all tubular suspension, k member drag brakes crap like that. I'm hoping for alteast high 10's once the cars dialed in and I get some practice on the track.

Nothing that nasty about it, has a smallish cam 224/236. A Nx wet kit with a window switch and tps switch, built tranny and vig stall, and just about all the supporting bolt ons. It has some normal weight reduction done to it. Back seats gone, spare and jack gone, sway bar, a/c, and has pro stars on it. All that is counteracted by the heavy cat back and my fat *** in the car.

Ive had it to the track . I ran an 11.6 at 6000 ft elevation . That was on a way smaller setup
than what i have now . I started breaking parts with slicks then it snowballed into **** poor
trans builds so its kept me from the track for a while . The car is ready to go again so let's
hope it dont break
Edit: cant forget about the converter failures as well . I got sucked up into the Fuddle, CPT, etc. **** so that didnt help either . Ive had alot of drivetrain problems haha
