Default Burning oil? Bad Lifter? HELP!!!

Hey there guys I own a 93 trans am with a 350 long block bored over to a 383, have not had the car for too long, but i recently discovered that i have blue fumes emitting, my oil gauge is telling me that i am constantly at 80+ PSI while its heating up, and then goes down but goes back up to 80 when i accelerate, another thing is i hear a ticking noise in the engine, progresses as i speed up, slow at start up and progresses goes along with the other sounds, sounds like a bad lifter or a rod or something i cant tell, car dies sometimes when i set it in reverse, i think its due to the 2 to 3 k stall, but then again i am not sure, the prev owner failed to tell me about these issues, how can i fix this? helllppp of and i also think its running a bit rich

THANKS!!!

blue smoke could mean a couple of things. As far as the oil guage, i would get a mechanical gauge on it to verify that reading.

If it blows blue smoke when starting up, that is usually the valve guides need replacing. If it constantly blows blue smoke, you are looking at piston rings. Either way oil is getting into the combustion chamber. If it's valve guides, you need to have the heads looked at, if it is rings, your looking at a rebuild. Can you possibly get a video of the noise you are hearing? Hard to say without hearing it myself.

yea it sounds like your rings are worn...if you have to replace the rings, you might as well do a full rebuild. New rings, bearings, seals, gaskets. Parts your probably looking at maybe 500 as long as it doesnt need anything else besides fluids. If you arent going to be doing the work yourself then you have to factor in labor cost which would probably be easily almost 2grand.(depending on the shop) Hope that helps

It's too hard to tell what the EXACT problem could be, Either way you would have to tear into that motor and then you might as well rebuild it.

Well if you aren't leaking oil then your forsure burning it...either way you are gonna have to pull the motor to check it. Like he said above, if you pull it you might as well rebuild it..l
