Default timing cover seal??

I am putting new seals in my motor before I install the motor, but I have already wiped out 2 of the water pump drive seals. I think the shaft may be pointed up a tad. anybody have any ideas??? kinda got me held up

Are you protecting the seal as you install it? That is the common mistake that ruins the seal.

i just has the same problem just take the seal and massage it with ur finger for a while to strech it a bit till its preddy close to fiting then put it on half way and use a small flat tip or poker and be really jental and just strech it around the shaft and then tap it in thats how i got mine in on my lt1 cuz i did it to like 3 of them and finaly got it right like a week ago lol so try that

I'd make sure the actual water pump drive bearing is lined up and on the cam drive teeth right. I always start it throught the seal before I try to put the cover on the dowles. Also make sure the seal surface on the drive it's self has no grooves in it because this will allow it to leak.
