Default Burning oil bad

lt1 is burning oil badly only 4000 miles on rebuild whats some things i could try do before tearing it down and replacing rings?

Try to narrow it down to cylinders. Pull spark plugs to see what's wet. Maybe valve seals or an intake gasket.

Valve seals are possible, as are intake gaskets,, rings/pistons, irresponsibly ported heads can even suck oil through an overly thin port wall. Lack of sealer on the intake rocker studs could even do it

thats my first guess.......and for $30 and an afternoon of work its worth a shot....IMO

yep......my port walls break into a few of my rocker bolt holes.......something like that could do it but i dont think it would burn THAT much...........rings could happen but i would say there is another issue at that point.........im leaning towards intake gaskets or valve seals.....

I just use teflon sealer on the exhaust rocker studs.

HMMM. your right but what does a cylinder do on the downstroke? maybe sucks air though the intake?????? oh yea it does.

An intake gasket leak to the lifter valley will suck oil. Had a set of blue Felpro gaskets delaminate the silicon bead from the paper and this happened. I like the gray gaskets better.

You can really mess up the install, and loose a bit of oil out of the china rails and the bottom of the intake runners is right there in the in the lifter valley. Likely no, but I've seen it done.
